Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays’ young sensation Alek Manoah is a man on a mission. He handcuffed the Royals batters again on Tuesday in Kansas City to help his team win 7-0.

In six innings of work, the 24-year-old athlete allowed six hits and three walks, but without damage, since no opposing player completed a lap of the trails. Manoah (7-1) also struck out four opponents. Offensively, the Jays took an early lead, thanks to a two-run double from Matt Chapman on the second assault.

The score remained that way until the seventh inning, when the visitors added three more runs, before scoring the knockout in their last turn at bat, by virtue of a two-run double from Teoscar Hernandez.

It’s the second straight shutout for the Jays against the Royals, who have managed only eight total hits in these two games. Canada’s only major league team will have the chance to complete the sweep on Wednesday.

Jansen on the sidelines

Prior to today’s game, the Blue Jays placed receiver Danny Jansen on the 10-day disabled list.

The 27-year-old suffered a broken fifth metacarpal when he was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning of Monday’s game against the Royals.

Limited to 19 games so far in 2022, Jansen has a .232 batting average. He hit seven home runs and drove in 13 runs.

Receiver Zack Collins was recalled from the minor leagues (AAA) to replace Jansen in the Toronto squad.

Blue Jays’

Jazz Chisholm Jr. has a blast against the Nationals

On the Miami side, the Marlins’ second baseman, Jazz Chisholm Jr., had a feast against the Washington Nationals.

In a 12-2 home win, the 24-year-old drove in six runs.

From the second assault, he came to the plate with the bases loaded. He took the opportunity to kick an offering from pitcher Joan Adon out of bounds. The latter has also lived a real hell on the mound. In three innings of work, he allowed eight runs on seven hits and two walks. Coming back to Chisholm Jr., he hit another long pitch, his tenth of the season, this time for two runs, in the fifth inning.

Receiver Nick Fortes also had a strong game offensively, producing four of his own runs, including three on a home run in the fourth inning, showing Adon the way out (1-10).

Neris and Baker suspended

Earlier in the day, Major League Baseball announced it had suspended Houston Astros pitcher Hector Neris for four games. The manager of the Texas club, Dusty Baker, will have to miss a match.

Both men received the penalties for incidents that occurred in Monday’s game against the Seattle Mariners.

The gunner hit a rival hitter and then fired a shot ear-high from another. In fury, the manager of the Mariners, Scott Servais, garlanded the representatives of the Astros. He and Baker then bumped into each other. Both men were ejected from the game.

Baker served his suspension Tuesday night, while Neris appealed his case.
