White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews resigned, including First Lady Melania Trump’s Chief of Staff Stephanie Gresham, following the violence on the US Capitol campus.
Washington: America’s First Lady Melania Trump’s Chief of Staff Stephanie Grisham, White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews, resigned after the violence at the Capitol complex by supporters of US President Donald Trump.
Grisham has also previously served as the press secretary of the White House. He was followed by Callie McKenney as press secretary in April. She is the first person to resign on Wednesday.
Grisham said in a statement on Twitter that serving in the White House has been honored for her and she is also proud to be part of Melania Trump’s mission to help children and is proud of the many achievements of this administration.
Matthews also said after resigning, “I am deeply saddened by what I saw today as a parliamentarian.” I am resigning from my post with immediate effect.
Our country needs to transfer power in a peaceful manner. According to reports, White House Social Minister Ricky Niseta has also resigned in view of the violent protests by Trump supporters.

Indeed, Trump’s supporters stormed into the complex on Wednesday when the newly elected President, who was sitting inside the Capitol complex for a joint session of Parliament, to authenticate Biden’s victory. During this, he also had a clash with the police. Several people have been reported dead and injured in the violence.
As someone who worked in the halls of Congress, I was deeply disturbed by what I saw today, she said. I will be stepping down from my role, effective immediately. Our nation needs a peaceful transfer of power, Matthews said.
According to ABC News, White House social secretary Rickie Niceta also submitted her resignation in reaction to the violent protest by Trump supporters.
In an unprecedented assault on democracy in America, thousands of angry supporters of Trump stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday and clashed with police, resulting in casualty and multiple injuries and interrupting a constitutional process to affirm Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.
Matthews also resigned Wednesday, NBC News reported. “I was honored to serve in the Trump administration and proud of the policies we enacted,” she wrote in a statement.
